Topic: “The Meaning of Home”.
John is 12 years old and a grade 7 student at Lester B. Pearson School for the Arts. He enjoys traveling to Europe to see family, tandem bike riding, playing soccer, and in winter, skiing, snowboarding and hockey. John also plays the piano and cello and loves video games. He is a bit of a whiz at computers and video editing and is the “go to” person both in his class and at home. He attended Western’s Engineering camp this past summer.
Last fall, John entered Genworth’s Meaning of Home contest. He composed a poem in the style of Dr. Seuss and won the contest over 5000 grade 5 and 6 entrants from across Canada. Genworth donated $1000.00 to his school and $ 50,000.00 to Habitat for Humanity in his name.
