Who We Are

Women’s Canadian Club is a non-profit, non-political, non-partisan and non-sectarian organization; and it welcomes women and men as members.

Our Mission:

Women’s Canadian Club, London, Ontario is a membership-based speakers organization providing monthly meetings on topics dedicated to preserving our Canadian identity, increasing our interest in matters affecting the welfare of our country, informing us about Canada’s part in world affairs and acknowledging the outstanding accomplishments of young people in our community.

We believe:

  • in Canada,
  • that it is important to provide a forum and audience for passionate speakers,
  • in broadening our minds by learning about many diverse topics,
  • that it is important to foster an interest in public affairs,
  • in cultivating an understanding of Canadian culture,
  • in providing a forum for global issues, and
  • in supporting the youth in our community.

Our 2024-2025 Speaker Series began in September 2024 with a full line up of exciting speakers. Meetings are held the 2nd Thursday of each month from September through March at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel (300 King St, London ON) on the 2nd Floor, Ballroom. In April, we hold a Spring Luncheon with special pricing.

On January 9, 2024, the Women’s Canadian Club of London is pleased to welcome CHRISTOPHER CANTLON, the fifth participant of the 2024-2025 Speaker Series.

Keynote Speaker – Christopher Cantlon

Christopher Cantlon, will speak on the topic, “What Does a Butler Do?”

He is a teacher, butler, and Stratford Chef School Instructor.

Christopher was born in Vancouver BC but grew up in Toronto after his parents moved the family East. He attended Trinity College, University of Toronto, and graduated with a degree in Philosophy. After a brief stint as an assistant in elementary Special Education, he spent two years in England studying Theology. He returned to Canada and began his teaching career. After 27 years teaching high school English – mostly Grade 12 and Grade 9 Special Education – he retired in 2012 and moved to Stratford. Christopher also holds a Masters’ Degree in English from the University of Toronto.

In September 2012, Christopher began butler training at The International Butler Academy in the Netherlands. Originally, this was an eight-week training. The administration saw potential at a time when they needed a new Head Butler, and halfway through the training hired him as their own Head Butler. As Head Butler he trained classes and was private butler to the Academy owner. In this position, he travelled extensively in Europe, and to China and South Africa.

After returning to Stratford, he worked at Rundles Restaurant for three seasons until it closed in 2017. He then worked at The Prune Restaurant the next summer and has continued there ever since.

He works at private catered events as principal service coordinator. After assisting at numerous special events, he joined the staff of the Stratford Chef School as a permanent service instructor in September 2021.

Christopher is also a member of the Grand Philharmonic Choir and the GPC Chamber Singers in Kitchener Waterloo.
Christopher will share more of his story with us in January and answer the Question: What Does a Butler Do?

We thank our sponsors, TD, Western and Horizon Retirement Living.

We look forward to seeing you in January.
